For some people comedy comes naturally, they have “ funny bones”. For others, not so.
This Masterclass is designed to demystify Comedy and introduce participants to the tools and principles that make comedy work.
Laughter is all about creating surprise; leading an audience down one path only to surprise them with a sudden change of direction.
The ideas we will workshop are around things like- Contrast, Illogical transition, Status, Extension, Straight/Funny man, Obsession and Oblivion, Exaggeration, Tension, Dilemma and what makes a funny Character.
We focus on the many different styles of Comedy - Commedia, Farce, Melodrama, Comedy of Wit, Black Comedy, Situation Comedy, Character Comedy and Cringe Comedy.
This may sound like a lot to process but this course will wet your pallet for a deeper understanding of the craft of Comedy and it will give you the tools to ‘trick’ up material for maximum funny!
